Teri Fahrendorf

(February 18, 1960 - )

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Fahrendorf attended the University of Wisconsin at Eau Claire and initially made wine at home. After graduation, she moved to San Francisco for work as a computer programmer, where she switched to homebrewing beer. In 1988, she quit computers to attend the Siebel Institute to learn commercial brewing. Coming back to California, she worked for a couple of local breweries, including Triple Rock. But a trip to OBF in Portland led to a job at Steelhead Brewing in Eugene, Oregon, where she was the brewmaster for nearly twenty years.

Fahrendorf famously left Steelhead in 2007 and became a “road brewer,” where she crisscrossed the country, visiting 70 breweries and brewing at 38 of them. The experience, and especially seeing so many women entering the profession, led her to found the Pink Boots Society that same year. Teri left Great Western Malting in 2022 in order to open her ceramic art studio, Rain Dragon Studio.
